A new world record price has been fetched at an online auction just recently. One of the rarest comic books Action Comics #1 featuring the likes of Superman in his first appearances spanning his 70 year lifespan so far.
The comic book was graded a CGC 9.0, giving it one of the highest grades ever for this rare book. Only one other #1 has ever been graded that high and it too was a record price at auction until this one recently sold.
The comic brought an amazing $3,207,852, the previous record was $2,161,000 when the other $1 Action Comic sold on ComicConnect.com in 2011. This rare copy was owned by famous Hollywood actor Nicholas Cage.
Action Comics #1 was published in 1938. A portion of the proceeds from this auction will help benefit the “Super-Man” himself and his wife – The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
The buyer of the most recent world-record price comic book is keeping it a secret, possibly for investment purposes.
