A picture of a newborn baby lying next to a cell phone has gone viral, and now, people all over the world are collectively hoping for her survival.
Adilynn Renee was born four months premature to her mother Chelsea Gregory, weighing less than one pound. Although nobody expected her to survive, she continues to live, one day at a time.
“I never imagined her to be that small, it took me by surprise,” said Gregory. “It really scared me. I was like, how is she going to make it?”
This month, Adilynn is four months old, and even though she only weighs four pounds, she continues to grow stronger. Still, doctors and those who love her say the fight for her life continues.
“[She] wasn’t even supposed to live, so we sat here the whole time thinking she was going to die,” said Matthew Reynolds, Adilynn’s father, back in July after she was born.
Adilynn still has a long way to go. The four-month-old infant has already had pneumonia twice as well as a blood infection.
“It’s making her heart work extra hard, her heart is trying to give out on her so they are having to give her medicine for it. Tons of medicines,” said Gregory of her daughter.
While Adilynn remains on life support at the hospital in North Carolina, she thankfully has support from people all over the world.
“It means more than the world to us because right now we are in desperate need of prayers,” said Gregory. “Honestly, there’s nothing more in this world that means more than just one person praying. I know she’s fought so hard for her mommy and daddy and we are gonna fight for her.”
Reports say that Adilynn is one of the smallest babies ever born at the hospital in Forsyth County, North Carolina.
