This Tuesday will set-the-pace in the rare auction of wristwatches that Sotheby’s Auction is selling. In the sale is a ‘one-of-a-kind’ and highly rare Patek Philippe titanium wristwatch that is expected to bring several millions of dollars.
The highlight of the auction is a Ref #5001T Sky Moon Tourbillion wristwatch by Pateke Philippe, the only known example of the watch in titanium. With a pre-sale estimate of $1 to $1.5 million, the watch is set to bring on a heated bidding war against some of the top collectors of rare and coveted watches from around the world.
Tourbillion watches have numerous complications, like the Patek Philippe, includes perpetual calendar, retrograde date, sky chart, moon phase, orbit display, sidereal time and minute repeating on cathedral gongs.
The rare Tourbillion watch and 4 others came from a previously unknown private collection of 12 watches total. The top five are expected to create a bidding frenzy.
The list of other rare examples of Patek Philippe high-end wristwatches include:
1) REF #5033T – with a presale estimate of $400,00 to $600,000
2) REF #5102T Celestial – presale estimates at $200,00 to $300,00
3) REF #5103P – with presale estimates at $500,00 to $700,000
4) Patek Philippe 1923 Officier – presale estimates at $800,000 to $1.2 million (shown above)
